The Australian Snowy Mountains are situated in the Kosciusko National Park, about a 6 hour drive from Sydney via Canberra and Cooma . Here you will find two ski resorts, Perisher Blue and Thredbo. Perisher Blue Resort is Australia’s biggest ski resort and consists of Perisher, Smiggins, Guthega and Blue Cow .
Perisher Blue Ski Resort is located above the snow line with plenty of room to move for everybody and ample facilities. It’s the elevation and enormous spread of the Resort that offers great boarding and skiing, and in 2003, the introduction of the Village 8 Express chairlift, the first anywhere in the world outside Europe. The resort boasts some of the best ski and snowboard instructors from all over the world with group or private lessons on offer for adults and children, beginner to advanced.
Situated at the base of the Snowy Moutains is Jindabyne, the main shopping and night life centre for the ski resorts.
Accommodation can be found within both Perisher Blue and Thredbo, with some 'ski in ski out' resorts. You can also find accommodation scatted down the mountain. Most accommodation you find outside Perisher and Thredbo will offer free shuttles to and from both ski resorts. Accommodation in Jindabyne is much cheaper and is only 40 minutes away from the slopes.
